Designing the Next “Total War”

For over 20 years now, Creative Assembly has graced us with its historical strategy game series, Total War. With Warhammer III on the horizon and Three Kingdoms wrapping up its DLC content, it is inevitable that they are going to expand their IP to yet another ancient setting to keep their historically-inclined fans (like us!) on the hook for their next major release. Our Proposals This series of articles will cover the most likely eras and settings in history we believe would be the next logical step. Troy – The Director’s Cut [REVIEW]

The Trojan Wars have been one of the most prolific stories through the ages. Despite ongoing debate whether or not this war really happened (our only real sources being Homer’s poems), there is no doubt it left its mark in history. As such this has been a favorite subject for Hollywood to exploit. There have been several adaptations of Homer’s work done in the past 20 years with mixed results. Justice League: The Snyder Cut After the theatrical version of Justice League flopped on release, fans held out hope for the mythical “Snyder Cut” – that is, Zack Snyder’s original vision of the film. Then, one day it actually happened. Well, it was a sit-through, but not in a good way. Hard to classify whether to call this release a movie or a miniseries, given its chapter-based format, and it shows in the overall pacing. To its credit, it did help expand on elements that we missing from the original – especially in regards to Cyborg’s character. This was a

Spartacus vs Spartacus: The Film vs The Series

The story of Spartacus and his gladiator/slave rebellion (more formally known as the Third Servile War) has captivated people throughout history. A slave turned gladiator turned leader of a slave revolt in the heart of the Roman Empire would in turn inspire many such similar revolts throughout history. Naturally, it was only a matter of time before such tales found their way to film. The most notable, of course, is the 1960 Kirk Douglas film, Spartacus. Directed by none other than Stanley Kubrick, it was released with a somewhat politically charged undertone as it was released at the height of
